Safety Reminder for our School Zone and Parking Lot

The school parking lot is only to be used for volunteers in the school; parents who will be in the school for a significant period of time (e.g., to meet with a teacher); school and child care staff; child care drop off (so as to avoid stopping/idling in the thruway fire zone); WCDSB support staff; special guests.

Parents are not permitted to use the parking lot as a drop off and pick up zone for children. If you must drive your children to school, please drop them off on surrounding streets. This issue becomes increasingly important during winter months when road surfaces are icy. Your support in this issue is greatly appreciated. Parents are asked to refrain from entering the lower end of the parking lot and parking or stopping for students. This creates a very unsafe situation and parents are reminded to respect the parking expectations of the school including the proper flow of traffic.

The driveway directly in front of the school is for buses and emergency vehicles only, please respect the posted signs and gates. We have many parents who use this for temporary parking when picking up and dropping off students

Please respect all of the traffic signs on school property and on the street. Stopping or parking illegally may cause a situation that causes a child to be injured.

Sadly, the school staff who supervise entry into the school parking lot and monitor parking in the school zone in front of the school experience challenges EVERY DAY with parents who ignore the expectations outlined above. School staff have been sworn at, yelled at and at times simply ignored. This supervision which is in place daily from 8:05 – 8:20 and 2:50 -until the last bus departs is for your child’s safety and your support is needed.
